Singer-songwriter Will Makar may only be a sophomore at Berklee College of Music, but his experience as a performer already extends more than a decade. Will has just released his self-titled debut album, featuring the singles "I Won't Make It Out" and "For You." Hailing from Houston, Texas, Will is now based in Boston where he is pursuing a degree in vocal performance at Berklee.
During Will's sophomore year in high school, he auditioned for American Idol’s fifth season and quickly became one of America’s favorites. Once the season began airing, Will moved on through the auditions, making it through Hollywood week and into the top 24. Will appeared in front of more than 30 million viewers on American Idol Season 5 for months. He finished as the eighth male vocalist out of tens of thousands who auditioned that season.
By this time Rhett had already been playing the tenor saxophone for almost 7 years, winning 1st in every all-region and area band competition he competed in. In high school, he was awarded a scholarship for being selected for the all-state band all four years in a row, although he had already begun to practice jazz much more than the school's classical music. It was also at Greenwood High that he was voted 'Most Talented' and 'Best Dressed', which is still apparent in his performances today. When Rhett was a senior, he began performing with the band Simplearth, shortly before performing at Rock The Desert the summer of 2007, opening for bands like Family Force 5 and Barlow Girl.
After high school, Rhett attended West Texas A&M University for 3 semesters, majoring in saxophone performance under Don LeFevre. After the fall of 2008, Rhett withdrew from WTAMU and auditioned for the prestigious Berklee College of Music, where he was accepted and is currently studying under violinist Christian Howes.
